The Enchanted Ceiling is the tall, high ceiling that overlooks the huge Great Hall of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It is bewitched to mirror the weather form outside; inside. It has known to be stormy, gail, sunny, snow, fog etc. At night it shows the stars.
In her first year, Hermione mentions to her fellow classmate Susan Bones that the ceiling is, in fact, bewitched and that she read about it in Hogwarts, A History.[1]
The ceiling thunders out of control when Mad-Eye Moody comes in and he performs a spell to stop it,calling it a "Stupid Ceiling".[2]
