Emerson Spartz (b. 17 February, 1987 in LaPorte, Indiana) currently serves as the President & CEO of Spartz founded the MuggleNet website in 1999 as a homeschooled twelve-year-old. As CEO, he oversees 120 volunteers and a paid staff. In 2007, Spartz incorporated Spartz Inc. to serve as the legal entity representing his MuggleNet e-business.

In 2005, Emerson and Melissa Anelli, interviewed J. K. Rowling just after the release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince book.

In 2009, Emerson co-wrote and published a book entitled Harry Potter Should Have Died: Controversial Views from the #1 Fan Site.

Early Life

In 2004, Spartz graduated from Thomson High School with a 4.0 GPA. As of 2009, he is a fourth-year student with a management concentration at the University of Notre Dame's Mendoza College of Business.

As of 9 April, 2009, Emerson Spartz is engaged to Gaby Montero. He proposed to her at centre court during a time out at a Chicago Bulls game, in which she was actively participating. Over 21,000 people watched the proposal.

Emerson and his fiance have also recently launched the website The website was created in response to the popular website, in which users share how their day was ruined. On, users share their most inspiring, uplifting stories, and allow others to draw strength from their experiences. Emerson says, "It's like Chicken Soup for the Soul - the 21st Century, Twitter-style version."
