Ellerby was a wizard or witch who worked along with Able Spudmore and created the Black Forest Broomstick Company Ellerby and Spudmore. They first created the Tinderblast and then the Swiftstick.

The first name of Ellerby is never revealed, besides if this is his or her first name. But it is most likely a surname.
Ellerby's name is only said in the Broomstick Company name Ellerby and Spudmore which is only mentioned in Quidditch Through the Ages.
