Edith Nesbit (15 August 18584 May 1924) was a Muggle author who wrote E. Nesbit's Fairy Tales and Tails.

Etymology

The name "Edith" comes from the Old English name Eadgyð, derived from the elements ead "rich, blessed" and gyð "war".

Behind the scenes

The works of Edith Nesbit are a known influence on the Harry Potter series. Author J. K. Rowling frequently mentions this author in interviews and has stated "I think I identify with E. Nesbit more than any other writer."[1]
