- — Robert Hilliard discusses Ravenclaw's symbols with new Ravenclaw students.[src]
An eagle is any large bird of prey belonging to the family Accipitridae.[4]
Eagles in the wizarding world
The eagle was the mascot of Ravenclaw House at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.[2][3]
It was a possible corporeal form of the Patronus Charm.[5]
Eagle feathers were sometimes used for quills.[6]
The body of a Hippogriff was half-eagle and half-horse, while the body of a Griffin was half-eagle and half-lion.[7]
History
Talbott Winger could transform into an eagle as an Animagus.[8]
After Severus Snape left the room following the questioning of Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley about the Flying Ford Anglia on 1 September 1992, Minerva McGonagall was said to be eyeing them like a wrathful eagle.[9]
On Christmas in December 1992, Hermione Granger presented Harry Potter with a luxury eagle-feather quill as a Christmas present.[6] Harry later used that quill do his homework during the summer holidays in 1993[10] and also when writing a letter to Sirius Black during the summer holidays in 1994.[11]
In May 1996, Luna Lovegood wore a hat that took the form of a lifelike eagle to the Gryffindor vs Ravenclaw Quidditch match.[12]
