Dundee is the fourth largest city in Scotland, located near the eastern coast.

After Lord Voldemort's downfall in 1981, Muggle television viewers phoned in from Dundee to alert Jim McGuffin, the weatherman, to sightings of shooting stars there, though the shooting stars were actually the work of celebrating wizards and witches. Minerva McGonagall suspected that the shooting stars were the work of Dedalus Diggle in Kent.[1]

Behind the scenes

  • The Mainland Chinese version of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone included various footnotes from the translator explaining various aspects of British culture to Chinese readers. However, the footnote explaining Dundee incorrectly claims it to be a port in the north of England.
