A duel between Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort took place near the start of the Second Wizarding War on June 24, 1995.

[edit] The Third Task
As the third task of the Triwizard Tournament approached, a loyal servant of Lord Voldemort Barty Crouch Jr. (disguised as Mad-Eye Moody) transformed the Triwizard Cup into a Portkey in order to snare Harry in a trap. As the task went down, Crouch Imperiused Viktor Krum to kill Cedric Diggory, while he put Fleur Delacour out of service. Unfortunately, for him, Harry rescued Cedric and the met up at the cup. They agreed to take it together, and disappeared into a graveyard.

As soon as they arrived, Wormtail killed Cedric on Voldemort's command. Wormtail, then, then trapped Harry against the tomb of Tom Riddle Sr..Wormtail, then, performed a potion to bring back Lord Voldemort. Voldemort, then, retrieved his wand and called the Death Eaters, including Lucius Malfoy, Avery, Walden Macnair, etc. He expressed his fury at the Death Eaters, "not even you, Lucius". Then, Voldemort raised his wand and replaced Wormtail's hand with a silver one. After that, he focused his attention on Harry, telling the Death Eaters how he met his downfall thirteen years ago. Then he reeased Harry and a duel broke out.

Voldemort raised his wand and forced Harry to bow. Then he performed the Cruciatus Curse and Imperius Curse on him, but Harry resisted the latter. He screamed Avada Kedavra!, as Harry yelled Expelliarmus!. The jets of light met and echoes of Wormtail's silver hand, Cedric Diggory, Bertha Jorkins, Frank Bryce, Lily Potter I, and James Potter I appeared and told them to, when "the connection is broken", to take Cedric's corpse and get to the Portkey. Harry obliged, and appeared back at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and warned everyone that Voldemort was back.
