This television set was given to Dudley Dursley as a welcome-home present for him in the summer of 1993.[1] It served as a replacement for his first television, which he had destroyed in a fit of rage upon learning of the cancellation of one of his favourite television programmes.[2] The television was conveniently stationed for him in the kitchen, as he had been complaining about the long walk between the refrigerator and the living room in 4 Privet Drive.
On the morning 31 July, 1993, he and his family gathered around this television and watched a bulletin about an escaped convict.[1]
