Dragon egg

From Harry Potter Wiki

(Redirected from Dragon Egg)

All dragons come from a dragon egg. Dragon's eggs tend to be very large (around 12x18 inches[1]) and need a lot of heat from their mothers to hatch. Dragon mothers are very protective of their eggs, as is found out in the Triwizard Tournament when Harry's Hungarian Horntail tries to stop Harry from capturing the Golden egg.

In Harry's first year at Hogwarts, Hagrid won a dragon's egg off a stranger he met down the pub at Hogsmeade. The stranger had on a cloak so that no one could see his identity, but it is later learned it was Professor Quirrell. Hagrid keeps the egg and tries to hatch it by keeping it under the stove.
