Hermione and Ron discussing Draconifors[src]

Draconifors is a Transforming spell that turns statues of dragons into real dragons. The caster 'swipes' their wand through the air and a ball of fire is shot from it at the statue, which will immediately animate and breathe fire. A Draconifors spellbook was found by Hermione Granger in Professor Cuthbert Binns's History of Magic classroom in 1993.

Behind the scenes

  • In the PC version of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Draconifors is a spell learned in Transfiguration class. Only Hermione Granger can use it. It turns statues of dragons into real dragons, which can then be controlled by the player.
  • In the PS2, GC, and Xbox versions of the game, Hermione Granger can use the spell on dragon statues, which then breathe fire. The ensuing fire then consumes wall hangings to reveal secret passageways.
