Double-ended newts are magical creature kept as pets by wizards. [2] It appears to be two newts sharing the same body. Double-ended newts swim around a lot and their diet consists of algae. [1] Double-ended newts can be purchased from the Magical Menagerie, at Diagon Alley. [1]

On August 31, 1993, the clerk of the Magical Menagerie advised a customer on the care of double-ended newts. [2]
