Double-ended newts are magical creature kept as pets by wizards.[2] It appears to be two newts sharing the same body. Double-ended newts swim around a lot and their diet consists of algae. [1] Double-ended newts can be purchased from the Magical Menagerie, at Diagon Alley. [1]

On 31 August, 1993, the clerk of the Magical Menagerie advised a customer how to take care of a double-ended newts. [2]
