A donkey is a domesticated creature related to the horse. The Wizard in The Wizard and the Hopping Pot summoned a lost donkey from a brier patch for a poor farmer. The Earl of Paunchley was given such a severe case of amnesia by Hannah Cockleford's Shield Charm that he believed he was a donkey called Hairy Cyril.

In Sybill Trelawney's first third year Divination class in 1993, Seamus Finnigan felt that the alleged Grim in Harry Potter's teacup looked more like a donkey when viewed from a certain angle.^[1]
