"Have you visited Fred and George Weasley's shop?"
Fay Dunbar to Hermione Granger.[src]

The Disused Bathroom is a boys' lavatory on the sixth floor of Hogwarts Castle which has not been used since sometime prior to 1991. In 1993, Fred and George Weasley moved their shop from this one to a bathroom on the seventh floor.

History

Early history

The bathroom was likely created with the rest of the school by Godric Gryffindor, Salazar Slytherin, Helga Hufflepuff and Rowena Ravenclaw in Medieval times on a sixth-floor corridor that would later be known as Glanmore Peakes' Corridor. At some point, the bathroom fell into disuse and was no longer used. However, two Chocolate Frog Cards were found in the toilets and a number of school robes remained on a coat peg by a bookshelf. One of the toilets was broken and another was covered in a pool of water.

Prior to 1991, Fred and George Weasley discovered the bathroom in a secret room off the Gryffindor Common Room and made it their shop. During Harry Potter's first year, the Weasley twins' brother, Ron, told Harry about the shop. He managed to sneak into the reading room, through the portrait of Myriadd and into the bathroom. That year, Fred and George sold a number of Famous Witch and Wizard Cards, as well as a Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans bag.

The next year, the portrait had been replaced by a painting of Oraclitus Spheer and the password changed to "Flibbertigibbet". Once again that year, Harry Potter visited the shop. That year, the Weasley twins were selling an Alohomora Spellbook, non-explodable, luminous balloons, Stink Pellets, Dungbombs, a Wiggenweld Potion Vial and a number of Chocolate Frog Cards. After that year, Fred and George abandoned this room and moved their shop to the disused seventh floor bathroom on the seventh floor of the castle.
