The Disillusionment Charm (incantation unknown) is a spell that is used to conceal the target. The charm makes that which has been bewitched to act as a chameleon, taking the colour and texture of that which is behind and around them.[1]

Casting
It is presumed that there are two methods of casting. It seems that if one is using the charm on themselves, they must twirl their wand around themselves as though they were wrapping themselves in rope[2]. If, however, they are using it on an external target, they must merely rap on the target with their wand. This then produces a sensation that a raw egg has been cracked onto the person's head, as the charm travels down them, granting them near invisibility.[1]
Known uses
On creatures
This enchantment is frequently used on magical creatures, according to magizoologist Newton Scamander. There is a law requiring that owners of all winged horses, including Hippogriffs, must use this charm on the creature daily to prevent muggles from seeing it.[3]
On humans
1995

When the Advance Guard of the Order of the Phoenix came to collect Harry Potter from his home in August of 1995, Alastor Moody used this charm on Harry Potter in case of an attack on them.[1]
1997
When stealing the Elder Wand from Albus Dumbledore's tomb, Lord Voldemort used this enchantment on himself so that nobody could see him; he noted that even he himself had difficulty identifying his own being.[4]
1998
During the Battle of Hogwarts, Draco Malfoy, Gregory Goyle and Vincent Crabbe used this enchantment on themselves so that they could watch Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger enter the Room of Requirement to search for a diadem that had been owned by Rowena Ravenclaw.[4]
