Dinosaurs were a dominant, primarily reptilian species of animals of the Mesozoic Era. Many of them are known for their immense size. Presumably in the world of Harry Potter, they may very well be related to dragons. After hearing Madame Olympe Maxime claim that she had "big bones" rather than admit to being a half-giant, Harry Potter remarked that the only thing that had bigger bones would be a dinosaur.
