Diggory is the surname of a wizarding family. They live near Ottery St. Catchpole in Devon, England, and thus close to the Weasley (The Burrow), Lovegood, and Fawcett families.
Family members
- Eldritch Diggory — Minister for Magic from 1733 to 1747. Died in office from a case of dragon pox.
- Amos Diggory — a Ministry of Magic employee in the 1990s
- Cedric Diggory — a Hufflepuff student and Triwizard Champion who was killed by Peter Pettigrew in 1995
- Mrs Diggory — Amos's wife and Cedric's mother
Etymology
It is commonly believed that J. K. Rowling borrowed Diggory from Digory Kirke in C.S. Lewis's Narnia series, as he is said to be one of her favourite authors.
