- "Amulets: Effective Against Werewolves, Dementors and Inferi."
- — One of the stalls[src]
The stalls were created in 1996, on the streets of Diagon Alley when many wizards and witches try to take advantage of the fear created by Voldemort's return. They set up stalls selling amulets and other objects, which (according to them) protected the wearer against werewolves, Dementors, and Inferi. These "Dark Magic protection" objects, however, were often completely useless or even harmful.[1]
History[]
In the summer of 1996, an office called the Office for the Detection and Confiscation of Counterfeit Defensive Spells and Protective Objects had to be created to deal with such offences. Some time later, a peddler attempted to sell Molly Weasley one of these amulets, which his signage claimed were effective against werewolves, Dementors and Inferi. However, he was not successful because her husband Arthur Weasley, who was the current Head of the Office for the Detection and Confiscation of Counterfeit Defensive Spells and Protective Objects, was with her and threatened to arrest the dealer if he was on duty.[1]
