The devil is, in some religions, a bad spirit that tries to create problems for people or, in other words, is the personification of evil. The devil is often depicted as ruling over hell.
Sirius Black is said, by the Fat Lady, to have eyes like the devil. Devil's Snare, a very evil plant who tries to kill anyone who touches it, is named after the devil.
Lord Voldemort is verry similar to Damien Thorn from the Omen, The Anty-Christ (a child from the Devil).
