The Detective Division was a bureau of the New York Police Department responsible for the detection, prevention, and investigation of crimes.

A wanted poster issued by the New York Police Department for Newt Scamander and Jacob Kowalski in 1926 stated that a warrant for the men's arrest had been obtained by the Detective Division.[1] It also instructed that the Detective Division, as well as Commissioner David Heyman, was to be immediately notified by wire in the event of their arrest.[1][2][3]
