Derek Hough (born 17 May 1985 in Salt Lake City, Utah) is an American actor who played a Ravenclaw student in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
He is one of a handful of American actors to have appeared in the Potter films. His sister, Julianne Hough, had a role in Philosopher's Stone as well. The siblings studied dance under Mark Ballas's parents in London as children, and were recruited to appear in the film from their performing arts school.[2]
Hough is best known for being pro dancer on Dancing with the Stars, on which he has won three times, and for dating English singer Cheryl Cole.
