The Department of Magical Equipment Control is a department in the Ministry of Magic. It is presumably a sub-division of another department, such as the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, and is responsible for the regulation and standardisation of magical equipment and the detection of sellers of substandard merchandise.

History

In July of 1998, this Department issued a warning in the Daily Prophet about a shady street peddler in Diagon Alley named "Honest" Willy Wagstaff.
