"Silence! SILENCE! Anyone who has been splashed, come here for a Deflating Draught — when I find out who did this —"
Severus Snape, after a Swelling Solution exploded in Potions class[src]

The Deflating Draught was a potion that caused anything swollen by magical means to shrink back to normal size. This was the opposite of a Swelling Solution and acted as an antidote to it.[1][2]

History

During the 1988–1989 school year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Professor Severus Snape taught his fifth-years how to concoct this particular brew in Potions class, in preparation for their upcoming Ordinary Wizarding Level.[2]

The potion would later be used by Severus Snape in 1992 to deflate people who had been hit by Goyle's potion, which had exploded out of its cauldron due to Harry Potter throwing a Filibuster firework into it.[1]
