Stunt injury[]

While test filming for Deathly Hallows on a Wednesday 28 January 2009, one of his stunts correlating to a broom stunt went wrong when an explosion, which was part of the stunt, caused him to fall to the ground. David himself has said that he immediately could not feel any part of his lower half of his body. He was initially taken to Watford General Hospital, but later transferred to London's Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, a facility that specialises in spinal injuries. It has since been reported that Holmes will not regain use of his legs, confining him to a wheelchair.[3][4]

In November 2023, Daniel Radcliffe released a documentary film about Holmes which he produced, titled David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived on Max.[5][6]
