These letters were responses to Rita Skeeter's article "Harry Potter's Secret Heartache". Many of these letter were rude, and Hermione was advised to simply burn them after receiving them, by Hagrid, who had received similar, but harsher letters after the publication of Rita Skeeter's article "Dumbledore's Giant Mistake".^[1]

This letter's contents were unknown (if there was even a letter inside), but the envelope contained undiluted bubotuber pus, which spattered her, causing Hermione to leave the Great Hall and seek medical attention at the hospital wing.

Letter five

I read in Witch Weekly about how you are playing Harry Potter false and that boy has had enough hardship and I will be sending you a curse by next post as soon as I can find a big enough envelope.
