These books belonged to Professor Cuthbert Binns, ghost and professor of History of Magic at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. They were kept on large bookshelves in his room, Classroom 4F on the fourth floor of Hogwarts Castle.[1]

During one of Harry Potter and Remus Lupin's private lessons during the 1993–1994 school year, Hermione Granger studied the books and learnt that they could obtain fairy wings for their Potions class at Hogsmeade, near the Shrieking Shack.[1]
