Curses and Counter-Curses (Bewitch your Friends and Befuddle your Enemies with the Latest Revenges: Hair Loss, Jelly-Legs, Tongue-Tying and much, much more) is a spellbook on curses and jinxes that was written by Professor Vindictus Viridian.

Harry Potter saw a copy for sale at Flourish and Blotts in 1991 and was intrigued by the thought that it might help him to curse his cousin, Dudley Dursley. Hagrid dragged him away from it, telling him that he was not allowed to perform magic around Muggles, and that he was still too young to pull off such advanced spells.[1]

A copy was seen on a bench in the Great Hall during the 1991 Christmas Feast.[2]
