Crewe is an urban area in Cheshire East, England. Crewe is perhaps best known as a large railway junction and home to railway engineering facilities.

As a solution to the problem of the transportation of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry students, the Ministry of Magic, at the time led by Minister Ottaline Gambol, led a large-scale operation to obtain one of the Muggle trains. Thus the Hogwarts Express came to be. Several bemused Muggle railway workers in Crewe spent the rest of the year grappling with the uncomfortable feeling that they had mislaid something important.^[1]
