Cornwall is a county of England, located at the tip of the island's southwestern peninsula. Its only land border is with the county of Devon to the east. The Cornish people are considered to be Celtic and culturally, historically, and linguistically distinct from the English, in spite of political affiliation.[1]
History[]
The village of Tinworth was located in Cornwall, near the coast, and Shell Cottage, the home of Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour, was situated on the village's outskirts. Thus, Cornwall had both Muggle and magical populations. Dobby was buried by Harry Potter in this village.[2][3] Pixies were known to live in Cornwall,[4] and in the 17th century they famously abducted a witch, Dymphna Furmage, while she was holidaying there.[5]
The Lizard was a peninsula in Cornwall known to house the southernmost point in Britain. It was visited by the Knight Bus on at least one occasion.[6]
In the late 19th century, a Cornish wizard was suspected of Basilisk breeding by the Wizengamot, after inspectors from the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures found toad infestations in all five of his chicken coops.[7]
