Cornelius Fudge sent around twenty-eight letters to Albus Dumbledore in 1996 between the Battle of the Department of Mysteries (18 June 1996) and his dismissal as Minister for Magic, in a vain attempt to persuade him to convince Harry Potter to lie to everybody that during Fudge's leadership the Ministry was doing a good job in security in order for him to keep his office, aware that now the truth of Voldemort's survival was known to all, the word of the Boy-Who-Lived would carry weight with many in the wizarding community due to his past survivals of the Dark Lord's attempts on his life.
