- — Cornelius Fudge and the portrait at 10 Downing Street[src]
Cornelius Fudge sent around twenty-eight letters to Albus Dumbledore in 1996 between the Battle of the Department of Mysteries (18 June 1996) and his dismissal as Minister for Magic, in a vain attempt to persuade him to convince Harry Potter to lie to everybody that during Fudge's leadership the Ministry was doing a good job in security in order for him to keep his office, aware that now the truth of Voldemort's survival was known to all, the word of the Boy-Who-Lived would carry weight with many in the wizarding community due to his past survivals of the Dark Lord's attempts on his life. Fudge failed in his attempts, and was eventually ousted from office in complete disgrace.[1]
