These books were written by Cornelius Agrippa sometime in the 15th and/or 16th centuries. Muggles imprisoned him because they thought that the works were evil.
In at least one depiction on his Chocolate Frog Cards, Cornelius was portrayed writing one of his books with a quill.

- The real person Agrippa is based off of wrote several books, the most famous of which being De Occulta Philosophia libri III. Agrippa's books generally indicated scepticism at the science of his time in favour of the occult.[1]
