Cordelia Gifford was a Ravenclaw[2] student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the 1990s. She competed in the school Gobstones tournament during the 1996–1997 school year.
Etymology
Edit
The name "Cordelia" comes from Cordeilla, possibly a Celtic name of unknown meaning. According to Geoffrey of Monmouth, Cordeilla was the youngest of the three daughters of King Lear and the only one to remain loyal to her father. When adapting the character for his play 'King Lear' (1606), Shakespeare altered the spelling to Cordelia.
