- "Here comes Gilbert Wimple; he's with the Committee on Experimental Charms; he's had those horns for a while now..."
- — Arthur Weasley pointing out individuals at the Quidditch World Cup[src]
The Committee on Experimental Charms was a committee of the British Ministry of Magic founded by Balfour Blane in late 16th or early 17th century that oversaw the use and development of experimental charms.
History[]
The committee was founded by Balfour Blane sometime before 1700. After thriving for nearly three centuries and integrating into the mainstream British Ministry of Magic after its founding in 1707,[1] the committee had to deal with some extremely odd ferrets found in the possession of Mortlake in 1992.[2]
Around this time, Gilbert Wimple joined them.[3] The committee once made a study on the percentage of wizards and witches that believed that Atmospheric Charms should be regulated due to their effect upon the environment.[4] Wimple also attended the 1994 Quidditch World Cup, along with other Ministry officials. He was recognised by Arthur Weasley when walking through the World Cup campsite.

Behind the scenes[]
- As the Committee on Experimental Charms must predate the Ministry itself, it may have started out as part of the Wizards' Council, although this is only speculation.
