The Clock Tower Entrance[1] is one of the three main entrances of Hogwarts Castle (the other two being the Viaduct Entrance and the main Entrance Hall). It consists of a large open space at the base of the Clock Tower with two stairwells going up towards the upper levels of the Tower. Opposite the main entry there is a large window. There is contoversy however, as to why the window was placed there, considering if one looks at the whole structure of the Clock Tower, a building is propped right where the window is. A portrait of Damara Dodderidge was hung here [2] and, in 1995, so was a portrait of Termeritus Shanks.[1] The massive steel pendulum of the Clock swings over this Entrance. The Entrance can be sealed with a portcullis (which can be lowered and raised with the aid of a lever) [3] and the massive double doors can be locked with numerous bolts. [4]

- For unknown reasons when Harry Potter and the other members of Dumbledore's Army pass through this entrance in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the pendulum is missing. In the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, said pendulum is always present.
- The set used to film this Entrance Hall and the Clock Tower Courtyard was renovated into the Main Entrance Hall and the Entrance Courtyard in front of the Great Hall for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and subsequent films.
