A chocolate bar is a small bar filled with chocolate, sold at Honeydukes. A bar of chocolate fills people with happiness and therefore the reason to eat it when near a Dementor. Remus Lupin often had at least one bar with him, especially when Harry Potter was taught how to defeat them.
