The Chief of the Wizard's Council (or, simply, the Council Chief; female Chieftainess) was the title given to the head of the medieval Wizards' Council that preceded the Ministry of Magic in governing the British wizarding community. The title of Council Chief is, thus, the same as the modern-day Minister for Magic.
