Chancellor of the Exchequer is the title held by the British Cabinet minister who is responsible for all economic and financial matters. The Chancellor of the Exchequer was one of the Muggles who tried and failed to remove the enchanted portrait from the Prime Minister's wall.

• Assuming that the Prime Minister is meant to be John Major, the Chancellor at the time of the attempted portrait removal would have been Norman Lamont, who held the office from 28 November, 1990 until 27 May, 1993.
