The Central Department is a department of the Ministry of Magic. It is probably responsible for the running of the Ministry itself, and the passing of internal orders to employees and authorities.

After the Fall of the Ministry of Magic, the Central Department worked together with the Administrative Registration Department and the Muggle-Born Registration Commission to track Muggle-borns and acquaintances of Harry Potter.^[1]
