There were a set of catwalks close to the rafters of an high-ceilinged hall by The Quad battlements.
This area was used by the Hogwarts defence in order to cover the battle at the Viaduct Courtyard during the Battle of Hogwarts. Kingsley Shacklebolt and Remus Lupin led the defence here, and were later joined by Arthur Weasley and Nymphadora Tonks.[1]

- In the film and video game adaptations of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Lord Voldemort and Harry Potter have a confrontation here, finishing with Harry throwing Voldemort and himself off from a ruined balcony into the ravine below. This, however, as it contradicts the events of the novel, cannot be considered canon.
