You need to take in consideration that the canon from articles and interviews may have been provided without a time of reflection as long as when Rowling is working on a book and may contradict information from other sources of canon. Her exact quotes are also most valuable than reports of her comments.

Rowling also provided other elements of canon in other articles such as:
