The Butterbeer cork necklace was a necklace that had a Butterbeer cork on it. It was believed to keep Nargles away.[1] A Butterbeer cork necklace was worn by Luna Lovegood, first mentioned on 1 September 1995 when Luna said she believed that Harry was telling the truth about the return of Lord Voldemort.[citation needed]

History[]

Luna Lovegood wore this necklace during her school days at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Many other students found this odd.[1]

Philbert Chivers owned one of these necklaces, but exchanged it with Humphrey Balsamo at Slug & Jiggers Apothecary for some unstable potions he believed to be 'Narglecide'.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

  • Luna Lovegood wears this necklace in the original British editions, as well as in the Harry Potter films. In the American editions, however, this necklace is replaced with one made of Butterbeer caps.
