A building society is an institution that provides banking and other financial services.[1] Hermione Granger had an account with an unnamed building society, which she emptied prior to her departure to the Burrow in 1997, so that she, Harry Potter, and Ronald Weasley could have Muggle money if needed during their Horcrux hunt.[2]
