Saint Brutus (d. 1993 or earlier)[1] was a saint after whom St Brutus's Secure Centre for Incurably Criminal Boys was named.
Etymology[]
- Brutus was an Ancient Roman name, meaning "heavy", "slow", "foolish".[2]
Behind the scenes[]
- As there is no actual Saint Brutus, it is possible Vernon Dursley made up the school as a cover school for Harry.
- If he did exist, his name suggests him to be of Roman origin, possibly an early Christian martyr from the first or second century.
