Break with a Banshee is a book written by Gilderoy Lockhart. The book was a required textbook during the 1992–1993 school year.[1] It was apparently about Lockhart's deeds of banishing the Bandon Banshee, which was later revealed a witch with a hairy chin did so, but Lockhart merely stole the credits through his Memory Charms.[2]

In 1997, Hermione considered this book as she was sorting supplies for their mission to find Voldemort's Horcruxes. She was indecisive about whether or not to bring it.[3]

Behind the scenes

  • On the second-year school supplies list on Pottermore, the title of this book is given as Breaking with a Banshee. All other mentions of this book in the website list it as Break with a Banshee, however, suggesting that is a typo.
