The Hogwarts birth register a term referring to the large, parchment book that the Magical Quill records magical births in.

Uses

Every year, Professor McGonagall checks the book for children who are turning 11 that year (before the start of the new school term) and consequently sends letters of acceptance for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to them.
