Behind the scenes
- The reference to the discovery of ancient wands in Idaho in a prop edition of The New York Ghost featured in the film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them seemingly contradicts established Harry Potter canon. J. K. Rowling has stated that wands were invented in Europe and that Native Americans used wandless magic. However, it is possible that isolated populations developed wands independently of Europeans, but that the invention never spread beyond these groups. Alternatively, it is possible that wand-like Native American artefacts were mistaken for wands.
