BludgerBackbeatHM

The Bludger Backbeat in action

The Bludger Backbeat was a Quidditch tactic in which the Beater would strike the Bludger with a back-hand swing, sending the ball behind them rather than in front. The move was hard to pull off with any precision, but usually succeeded in confusing the opposition.[1]

In the 1986–1987 school year, Murphy McNully taught Jacob's sibling this move after the latter became a Beater on the Quidditch team of their house.[2]
