The Blasting Curse causes anything that the spell comes into contact with to explode. A possible lesser version of it might be the Blasting Charm.

- In 1981, Peter Pettigrew used a Blasting Curse to destroy a street and kill twelve Muggles at once while evading Sirius Black, who was blamed for the crimes and Pettigrew's alleged death.[1]
- Harry Potter used this curse to destroy the side-car of Sirius Black's flying motorbike during the Battle over Little Whinging.[2]
- Later that year, Hermione Granger used it in an attempt to kill Nagini and facilitate her and Harry's escape from Bathilda Bagshot's house in Godric's Hollow, but broke Harry's Wand also.[2]
- In 1998, during the Battle of Hogwarts, Hermione used it again, nonverbally, to blast Fenrir Greyback away from Lavender Brown.[2]
- It is possibly used by Augustus Rookwood in 1998 during the Battle of Hogwarts. The spell killed Fred Weasley.
