Blackpool pier was a pier in Blackpool, Lancashire, on the northwestern coast of England on the Irish Sea. When Neville Longbottom was a young child, his great-uncle, Algie, shoved him off the end of this pier in an attempt to make him show evidence of having magical abilities, which nearly caused him to drown.
