In late September, 2011, he was put up for adoption by his owner, at the age of ten. His owner, Paul Thompson, could no longer take care of him, because of his career as a stuntman. He was put up for adoption through the German Shepherd Dog Rescue, along with his best friend, Porridge, who was also in some films. Unfortunately, both Porridge and Berry have since passed away.
